Week in Andorra with a bunch of pro riders

Last week I was joined by Julian Alaphilippe in Andorra. It has been almost a year since we trained together. I have only seen Julian very shortly this year, but it made for a life-long memory. From the team car, I watched him win a stage at the Tour de France.

Julian is both amazing friend and training partner. Always motivated, keeping the spirit high and with an enormous amount of energy. We trained almost all the time together and then spend most of our free time together as well. We were used to sharing the hotel rooms during the races and training camps for most of the previous seasons, so there has been a lot to catch up. Soon we will start already the seventh season in the same jersey.

The weather has been amazing and there was always a nice training group. Usually, we started in a bigger bunch and then split into smaller groups to follow our specific training programs. Almost all the World Tour teams have some riders here. I have been riding a lot with Ivan Cortina, Jack Haig, Marc Soler or Johnatan Castroviejo. You can tell most of the guys have already few weeks of training in the legs. Regardless of the hilly terrain here, I had a solid average speed of more than 31 km per hour during the whole week. Sunday, it was even 33km/h. For some rides, we were even joined by a Moto GP rider Aleix Espargaro as road cycling is an important part of his training regime.

Next two days I will continue my training in Andorra and then I will travel to Belgium. I am looking forward to meeting our complete squad that was at the training camp in South Africa. Thursday there is a performance test in Bakala Academy on my menu, for the weekend I am heading to Prague and next Monday I am joining the team in Calpe, Spain for our first training camp. Looking forward already!

Zima, déšť, 256 kilometrů a téměř 5 tisíc výškových metrů před námi. Přesto jsem se na startu La Doyenne - nejstarší klasiky usmíval. Tušil jsem, že to bude dobrý den. Poslední dny jsem se cítil skvěl
